O's End First Half On A Winning Note.

Brad Bergesen once again proved that he is the O's staff ace (AKA the smartest kid at the Special Olympics) as he pitched 6 2/3 innings on Sunday, giving up 2 earned runs in the O's 4-2 win. Oscar Salazar (who was for some reason batting cleanup) went 2/3 with a home run and raised his batting average to .419. Brian Roberts added 2 RBIs and George Sherrill earned his 20th save of the season by pitching a scoreless 9th.

The O's go into the All Star Break with a sterling 40-48 record and they remain dead last in the AL East, 14 games behind the Red Sox. But they're only 11 games back in the Wild Card! At this point, I'm just hoping we can finish somewhere near .500 and that our young pitchers show progress without blowing out their arms. Orioles magic.
