Losing Streak Watch: Day 5.

Well that was a fun series. After their 12-1 loss today, the Orioles were last seen gathering what was left of their pride and talent (not much to gather really) and getting the fuck out of Boston as quickly as possible. It has now been 11 years since the O's have won a series in Boston and 11 years since it has been enjoyable to watch the O's play.

Inspired by the Orioles lousy play during this losing streak, I have decided to add a new feature to my O's recap: The Clipped Wing Award for the worst individual performance by an Oriole during a loss.

The inaugural Clipped Wing Award goes to...

Ty Wigginton!

This award could have easily gone to someone from our underachieving bullpen, but I'm sure we will have plenty of opportunities to give this award to a pitcher throughout the season so I decided to give it to a hitter today.

Wigginton, who is mired in an early season slump, proved to be a rally killer today, going 0/4, leaving 5 men on base, and grounding into 2 double plays. After the game Wigginton was quoted as saying, "I sucked. I flat out sucked and I deserve the inaugural BWP Clipped Wing Award. The fans deserve better." Couldn't have said it better myself.

Honorable Mention: Radhames Liz.

Liz gave up 6 earned runs and hit 2 batters in just 1/3 of an inning, and was sent down to the minors immediately following the game (this isn't a joke). If the game wasn't already out of hand when he gave up these runs, Liz would have easily won the first ever BWP Clipped Wing Award.

Tomorrow the O's are back at the Yard against America's Barack Obama's team and they look to ride the powerful right arm of Bradley Bergesen (who now?) to victory. Don't miss it.
